Women Entrepreneur Business Spotlight - After Affects Natural Skincare Solutions

Name: C Dawn Farrow
Give us a Brief Bio of yourself and your Business.:

I am a mother of 2, and I am the owner and artisan behind the After Affects Natural Skin Care Solutions brand. After being in corporate for almost a decade I wanted to do something more meaningful something that gave me purpose. I fell into this by accident due to a skin issue my youngest son had with excessively dry skin and the "natural products" I was using were not doing anything. I decided to challenge myself to find a solution this by creating my own moisturizer using only natural products...and thus After Affects was born. I didn't want my products to just be basic Shea butter with some Olive Oil or sell just Black Soap. I wanted to create a line of products that would be more of a multi-vitamin for the skin. I use ingredients from all over the world that offered different benefits to replenish vitamins and minerals that your skin lacks while promoting cell hydration, protection, and cell regeneration.

What has been the greatest obstacle for you in your industry?:

My greatest obstacle is getting more orders. For marketing, I am learning as I go. I get great reviews and people tell me they love the products. Even my eczema customers talk about how my soap has really helped, and even my butters are better than the doctor prescribed creams, but its hard getting repeat customers or the orders are few and far between. I am looking to get my products in boutiques and maybe boutique hotels, but I am trying to figure how to get them to bite seeing as I am not a household name yet.

Where do you see your brand in 5-10 years? What is your ultimate goal?:
My ultimate goal is help consumers take their power back by showing them how these mass produced products are so full of toxins and to teach people that Natural shouldn't be an option but a way of life.
In 5-10 years I see myself having 2 boutiques of my own and having products in more homes, hospitals, wellness centers, as well but not limited to hospitality industry (hotels, B&B's etc.)

If you could give one piece of advice to anyone who is trying to create the career/business of their dreams, what would it be?:

I think that would be don't be afraid of the unknown. Take a leap and see where you land. We have one life and if you don't use it to its fullest, you will leave this Earth always wondering.
