See What This Young Girl Bought After A Bank Error Mistakenly Put $4.6 Million Into Her Bank Account.
Her name is Christine Jiaxin Lee, 21-year-old engineer from Malaysia who, when living in Australia as a student, found something shocking.
An error put $4.6 million into her bank account.
She went on a lavish shopping spree, trying to spend the cash before anyone noticed.
But they did, and she paid a very steep price…
She didn't do anything to facilitate the error. It just happened due to a mix-up on the bank's part.
She even got a fancy apartment.
She moved to Sydney’s trendy Inner West neighborhood.
She spent almost a million dollars on handbags.
This graphic was created by the Sydney Morning Herald as they investigated exactly where the money went.

She spent almost all of it in just a year.
$3.3 million of the $4.6 million was gone.
She eventually got arrested.
She got out on bail, but has to report to the police station twice per day and give up her passport.
She also has to pay it ALL back. (How Sway???)
She claimed that she thought her parents gave her the money, but now has to pay back all the money she spent.
It’s being treated as a loan.
She must have wealthy parents, because it’s being reported that they’re going to cover the whole amount and get her out of debt.
She says, “I have told my parents about it and they are not very happy with me.”
