Former NFL Running Back Files For Bankruptcy After Falling Into Almost $5 Million Worth Of Debt.

According to documents obtained by Deadspin, 34-year-old Clinton Portis — a former player for the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos — owes over $1 million in mortgage payments, $500,000 to his mother, and $500,000 to a reporter Nischelle Turner.
In addition, Portis also owes $390,000 in back taxes, $170,000 to the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in New Jersey, $412,000 in domestic support to four different women, $65,553 on a repossessed BMW, and $899 in unpaid phone bills, Deadspin reported.

Portis’s time in the NFL included a $50.5 million contract in 2004 over the course of eight years — making him the highest paid running back in the league’s history, reported Daily Mail.
He reportedly took home $43.1 million in his career, which ended after a 2010 injury.

Also it has been reported that not only did his financial advisors lose his money in investments, but they also stole millions of dollars from him. They forged his signature on checks and didn't have to pay him back when they were found guilty, they just lost their license.
He lists just $150 in his bank account, according to USA Today.
