Kenneka Jenkins’ Family Files A $50 Million Dollar Lawsuit Against Crowne Plaza Hotel.

The family of Kenneka Jenkins, who was found dead in a kitchen freezer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Rosemont, has filed a lawsuit, seeking $50 million in damages.
The suit was filed by Jenkins’ mother, Tereasa Martin. It claims hotel staff, the security company and a hotel restaurant, are responsible for her daughter’s death, alleging the defendants were negligent because they didn’t secure the walk-in freezer or conduct a proper search when Jenkins went missing.

The lawsuit states that staff failed to monitor security cameras that would have alerted them to Jenkins’ whereabouts, thus preventing her death.
Jenkins, a 19-year-old Chicago resident, was found dead inside a freezer at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel early Sept. 10, 2017.
“The death of any child is tragic; but the death and circumstances surrounding Ms. Jenkins are especially sad,” Rosemont Police Chief Donald E. Stephens III said last year.
